The first of two storms to impact the district will move into the area this afternoon / evening into Thursday. Most of the precipitation will occur overnight Wednesday, with up to 18 inches of new snow in elevations above 7,000 feet. The second, stronger system, will arrive on Friday. A screaming southerly 200kt jet favors SOCAL, but Mono County and the Southern Sierra (particularly on the west side) should get hit with about 2 – 3 feet in the higher elevations. System departs to the east on Saturday, leaving some showery activity the rest of the day
Owens Valley:
Today: Mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of overnight showers. Highs 66 – 69 / Lows 42 – 47. Winds SW 10 – 15 mph.
Thursday: 50% chance of scattered rain showers then mostly cloudy overnight. Highs 59 – 64 / Lows 39 – 44. Winds W 15 – 25 mph.
Mammoth Lakes (7,800 – 8,200 feet):
Today: 60% chance of snow showers then 100% overnight. Highs 44 / Lows 26. Winds SW 10 – 15 mph.
Thursday: 90% chance of morning snow showers reducing to 20% later in the day. Highs 38 / Lows 26. Winds SW 10 – 15 mph.
Mono County:
Today: Snow showers near the Crest then rain and snow overnight. Highs 46 – 56 / Lows 23 – 33. Winds SW 10 – 20 mph G 30.
Thursday: Morning snow showers likely then a slight chance later in the day. Highs 42 – 52 / Lows 22 – 32. Winds S 15 – 25 mph G 35.
