WED FEB 19 2014

Long range models still hinting at the West Coast ridge moving up into Canada, allowing the storm track to undercut it, about the mid part of next week. I’m still a little skeptical of this forecast, but its something I will continue to look at. For today thru tomorrow morning, an upper level trough passing mostly to our north, will bring breezy to windy conditions to most of the district. Along with this, light showers are expected in the Tahoe Basin northward. As that trough moves east, that West Coast ridge rebuilds and re-amplifies, for dry and warming conditions thru the weekend.

Owens Valley:

Today: Mostly sunny becoming partly cloudy and breezy. Highs 64 – 67 / Lows 31 – 41. Winds N 15 – 25 mph G 35.

Thursday: Mostly sunny. Highs 62 – 65 / Lows 30 – 40. Winds N 10 mph.

Mammoth Lakes (7,800 – 8,200 feet):

Today: Mostly sunny. Highs 44 / Lows 22. Winds W 15 – 20 mph G 30.

Thursday: Mostly sunny. Highs 45 / Lows 26. Winds SW 5 – 10 mph.

Mono County:

Today: Mostly sunny and windy. Highs 46 – 56 / Lows 11 – 21. Winds W 15 – 20 mph G 35.

Thursday: Partly cloudy. Highs 47 – 57 / Lows 13 – 23. Winds N 5 – 10 mph.
