Winds on the increase (again) later today and Wednesday, as a storm system (now at 140W) moves through the PACNW and N. CA. Not much moisture here as it just clips the Mammoth and Yosemite area. Still theres a chance of some shower activity there. Then things return to the same old story, as high pressure builds off the coast, sending the storm track well to our north. During our winter season so far, the chances of “breaking” the West Coast ridge have not materialized. Right now confidence is low that it will happen in February, but some of the models in fantasy land (more than 10 days out) have introduced the possibility of a deep trough by end of month. We will see…
Owens Valley:
Today: Becoming cloudy. Highs 65 – 68 / Lows 34 – 44. Winds NW 10 – 15 mph G 35 late tonight.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny then becoming partly cloudy. Highs 65 – 68 / Lows 31 – 41. Winds N 15 – 25 mph.
Town of Mammoth Lakes (7,800 – 8,200 feet):
Today: Becoming mostly cloudy with a chance of evening snow showers. Highs 48 / Lows 30. Winds W 15 – 25 mph.
Wednesday: Partly sunny slight chance of morning snow showers. Highs 41 / Lows 21. Winds SW 15 – 20 mph.
Mono County:
Today: Mostly cloudy a chance of evening snow showers. Highs 51 – 61 / Lows 24 – 34. Winds SW 10 – 20 mph G 45 later today.
Wednesday: Slight chance of morning rain and snow showers. Highs 43 – 53 / Lows 13 – 23. Winds W 15 – 25 mph G 50.
