THURSDAY JAN 30 2014

Now that the West Coast ridge has temporarily broken down, it sets the stage for some mountain snow and valley rain showers. So a chance of snow above 7,000 feet today and rain in the Owens Valley as well. I expect 1 – 2 feet above 9,000 feet when all is said and done. Lingering shower activity and cooler temperatures will continue on Friday, particularly over the mountains. Unsettled weather for the weekend, then the West Coast ridge re-builds a bit, for dry and cool weather through mid week.

THE OWENS VALLEY:

Today: Rain likely. Highs 55 – 58 / Lows 30 – 36. Winds NW 15 – 25 mph G 40.

Friday: 20% chance of rain. Highs 46 – 49 / Lows 22 – 32. Winds N 10 – 15 mph.

TOWN OF MAMMOTH LAKES (7,800 – 8,200 feet):

Today: Snow. Highs 32 / Lows 16. Winds SW 15 mph G 25.

Friday: 30% chance of snow showers. Highs 32 / Lows 10. Winds NW 5 – 10 mph.

MONO COUNTY:

Today: Snow and rain likely. Highs 35 – 45 / Lows 15 – 20. Winds SW 10 – 20 mph.

Friday: Slight chance of snow showers. Highs 34 – 44 / Lows 2 – 12. Winds NW 10 – 15 mph.
