In the driest Winter on record (according to the Department of Water and Power) we have a couple of rays of hope shining through. Sunday into today the first of two Spring systems pushed thru the area, dropping about 6 inches of new snow along the Crest. Yosemite picked up 2 inches of snow down to 4,300 feet. The second system Tuesday, should bring and additional 10 – 14 inches to the upper elevations (from Yosemite northward). So a 50% chance of some moisture in the Owens Valley Tuesday night and an 100% chance of snow showers in Mammoth and Mono County. These of course are not going to change our dry Winter much, but we will take what we can get. That system pulls away later Wednesday leaving brisk conditions. High pressure returns on Thursday for warming and drying…DMATT
Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the Tahoe Basin, Mono County and NE California, from Tuesday morning to late Tuesday night.
Owens Valley:
Today: Mostly sunny then partly cloudy. Highs 63 – 66 / Lows 34 – 39. Winds S 10 – 15 mph.
Tuesday: 20% rain then 50% in the afternoon. Highs 60 – 63 / Lows 35 – 38. Winds SW 15 – 25 mph G 35.
Town of Mammoth Lakes (7,800 – 8,200 feet):
Today: Partly cloudy. Highs 43 / Lows 24. Winds SW 10 – 15 mph.
Tuesday: 100% snow showers. Highs 34 / Lows 19. Winds SW 10 – 15 mph.
Mono County:
Today: 20% scattered showers. Highs 46 – 56 / Lows 14 – 24. Winds SW 10 – 15 mph.
Tuesday: 80% snow showers. Highs 35 – 45 / Lows 16 – 26. Winds SW 10 – 15 mph.
