Baggy trough settles in over the forecast area with a 20% – 30% chance of high elevation showers and isolated thunderstorms today and tomorrow. Daily highs still running on the above normal side. Weak ridging develops on Thursday for a drying effect; still a 20% chance of a few showers over the Crest in Mono County. By Friday night into Saturday, another weak system moves thru the area. Once again about a 20% – 30% chance of mountain showers with this one. Right now, the cool in the East, warm in the West pattern looks to continue thru end of March. That doesn’t mean we won’t be stormy at times, just not Big storms.
And speaking of cool in the east, Boston broke its all time Winter snow seasonal record. Their Winter season runs from Jul 1 thru June 30. The old record of 107.6 inches set in 1995-6 was eclipsed to 108. 6 yesterday (thats 9 feet of snow). Records have been kept there since 1872.
Owens Valley:
Today: 20% rain showers. Highs 71 – 74 / Lows 41 – 44. Winds NW 10 mph.
Wednesday: 20% isolated thunderstorms. Highs 71 – 74 / Lows 42 – 45. Winds N 10 mph.
Town of Mammoth Lakes (7,800 – 8,200 feet):
Today: 20% rain and snow showers. Highs 53 / Lows 32. Winds NE 5 – 10 mph.
Wednesday: 30% showers and isolated thunderstorms. Highs 54 / Lows 32. Winds N 10 mph.
Mono County:
Today: 20% rain and snow showers. Isolated thunder possible. Highs 55 – 65 / Lows 28 – 38. Winds NE 10 mph.
Wednesday: 30% snow showers and rain. Highs 55 – 65 / Lows 25 – 35. Winds SW 10 mph.
