Well the first part of yesterdays inside slider has moved eastward, leaving light snow in the Reno Area, Mammoth Lakes and Mono County. There was little snowfall behind the departing front. The second part has already kicked in, cold arctic air and windy conditions last night into today. Last night some locations around Lake Tahoe saw wind chills down to -20 to -30 brrr!. Today, many locations in Mono and Inyo County will see north winds 10 – 20 mph G 30 thru at least mid day. So wind chill values will be way down there as well. Quite cold temps continue into Friday before high pressure begins to take hold. It will dominate our weather thru Tuesday of next week. So a very slow warming trend is expected.
Owens Valley:
Today: Mostly sunny. Windy. Highs 32 – 35 / Lows 13 – 23. Winds N 10 – 20 mph G 30.
New Years Day: Mostly sunny. Highs 42 – 45 / Lows 16 – 26. Winds N 10 – 15 mph.
Mammoth Lakes (7,800 – 8,200 feet):
Today: Sunny. Cold. Highs 13 / Lows 3. Winds NE 10 – 15 mph.
New Years Day: Sunny. Highs 24 / Lows 11. Winds NE 10 mph.
Mono County:
Today: Clearing. Very cold. Highs 12 – 22 / Lows 6 below to 4 above zero. Winds N 10 – 15 mph G 30.
New Years Day: Sunny. Highs 20 – 30 / Lows 1 – 11. Winds N 10 mph.
