Snow Bunnies thrive in Mammoth Lakes during Winter
FORECAST: The Owens Valley / The Town of Mammoth Lakes
FRI JAN 29 2021 4:13 AM PST
SYNOPSIS: Heavy snow continued yesterday into this morning (with an Avalanche Warning remaining in effect for Mammoth until 4 am today). Many roads in our forecast area are still closed. All thanks to an upslope flow and some spill over onto the Eastern Slopes. Early this morning, Mammoth Mountain is at 87 inches of snow (and it’s still snowing) from the mid-week storm. Light snow possible today (tapering off as the day progresses). Then that AR trough axis pushes east tonight, with quiet weather returning over the weekend. What appears to be another AR type system is on tap for Monday and Tuesday. However, Atmospheric River Detection probabilities are decreasing with a Pacific moisture feed into this system. So it should be weaker than our mid week event…DMATT
DMATTs Weather Fact: That AR storm that moved through Central CA, dumped 12 inches of rain (in 24 hours on Wednesday) in parts of the Coastal Range in the Bay Area.
