FORECAST: The Owens Valley / The Town of Mammoth Lakes
WED JAN 20 2021 4:17 AM PST
SYNOPSIS: Quiet weather for the next few days, which is a far cry from Mono Counties wind event yesterday. The Pacific ridge (that caused our dry weather of late) is now North of Hawaii and moving to a position in the GLA Friday. This should allow a cold system to drop down from the North Friday into Saturday. Snow amounts depend on where the stalled frontal boundary ends up, but for now plan on light snow (1 – 4 inches) in Mammoth Lakes and a slight chance of rain / snow showers in the Owens Valley. We have another system on the heels of the weekend system, arriving about Monday. It’s a bit early for exact timing and snow amounts. But all this suggests a change from our recent dry and unseasonably warm weather. Updates in tomorrow’s forecast…DMATT
