AREA FORECAST: Bishop & The Owens Valley / The Town of Mammoth Lakes
FRIDAY OCT 02, 2020
DISCUSSION: The longwave pattern continues to indicate a very large and robust upper level high pressure ridge, extending from Central Mexico northward to Eastern Alaska. The air mass at 850 mb, is very mild, compared to a July ridge. So the daytime highs in the Owens Valley should not reach the 100 degrees mark. Still 91 degrees today in the Owens Valley, in October, is not cool by any means. Temperatures also peak today, as that ridge begins to flatten and weaken, in response to troughing moving through British Columbia. So the upcoming weekend looks “a little” cooler (even though still above normal), with temperature hovering in the lower 70s in Mammoth and about 90 in the Owens Valley…DMATT
