Dry ridge of high pressure remains today for mostly sunny skies and temperatures running a bit above normal for early September. Now the interesting part. Hurricane Norbert continues to spin west of the Baja coast and slowly move in a NW direction. Just how far north and west Norbert moves will determine if any moisture will effect our forecast area. For now I am throwing in a 20% chance of thunderstorms over the Southern Sierra for Sunday and Monday. This would include the mountains of Inyo and Mono Counties. Heavy isolated rain is possible so stay tuned for Sundays forecast.

Continued about normal, temperatures wise, for the next few days as a westerly flow dominates. By the weekend Hurricane Norbert will be slowly sliding northwestward off the Baja coast and weakening. I suspect some impact to the weather in our area, maybe a 20% chance of thunderstorms on Monday. Otherwise the trough off the CA coast will transition into Nevada as a ridge builds in off the coast. So dry weather and gusty winds in Mono County on Sunday and Monday. Stay tuned for the weekend forecast for more on Norbert.
