SCE news release

Here is SCE’s update on public safety power shutoffs in the your areas today:

As part of a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS), power was shut off to approximately 250 SCE customers at 11:36 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, due to high winds in the unincorporated community of Bridgeport Valley to Twin Lakes

SCE is monitoring circuits that serve a total of 13,000 customers for a possible shutoff in Mono County including Bridgeport Valley to Pickle Meadows, Mammoth Lakes, Mammoth Lakes – Core, Mammoth Lakes Basin – Falls Creek Track, Mammoth Lakes North, Mammoth Lakes Old Mammoth, Mammoth Lakes Trails, and unincorporated Mono County from Rush Creek to Agnew Lake, Lake Mary, near Lee Vining, near Tuolumne Meadows, Round Valley and Willow Springs.

Circuits are also being monitored for 700 customers for a possible shutoff in Inyo County in the area of west Bishop and in unincorporated Inyo County including the communities of Aspendell and Round Valley.

We understand PSPS actions would be disruptive to our customers and communities and we do not take these decisions lightly. We reminder customers that weather forecasts and conditions can and do change and so the timing and duration of an event is subject to change.

If an outage occurs, power will be restored as weather permits and after crews inspect and determine it is safe to re-energize lines.

SCE will do its best to minimize the impact to customers. Still, the company’s No. 1 priority is public safety.

Local, county, state and federal government officials, emergency management agencies, fire chiefs and impacted customers are being notified of the potential power shutoffs.

Customers may report or inquire about outages at 800-611-1911. For information on outages, customers can checksce.com/outages.

SCE wants you to be prepared if it needs to initiate a power shutoff. Customers are encouraged to update their information and sign up for PSPS alerts at sce.com/outagealerts or by calling 800-655-4555.

From Mammoth Lakes Tourism

We are receiving notifications this morning from Southern California Edison (SCE) that there may be another Public Safety Power Shutoff coming our way due to continued high winds in the forecast and high fire risk. The messaging, which you may have already received for your individual properties, is below:

“SCE continues to explore options for a potential Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) in your area. No power has been shut off at this time.  We are identifying circuits in that area that might be affected by dangerous high winds in high fire risk areas, and continue outreach to local officials and customers in advance of a potential decision to shut off power. Please be prepared with your personal emergency plan.

SCE will send daily updates until conditions improve. For more information, please visitsce.com/psps. Downed power line? Stay away, call 911, and SCE at 1-800-611-1911.”

Additionally, SCE has deployed its Community Outreach Vehicle to provide information. It is located at the Vons Shopping Center located at 437 Old Mammoth Road in Mammoth Lakes.

In an effort to assist our visitors, Mammoth Lakes Tourism would like to hear from you with information about whether or not your business can remain open during a power outage. It will be helpful for us to know where we can direct people for meals and activities.

Please send me an email to lkaylor@visitmammoth.com with your information so we can begin to compile a list. Thank you in advance!
