High pressure continues to amplify today along with the temperatures. Also today will be the best chance for instability in Mono County, as thunderstorm chances shift farther north tomorrow. A little cooler on Wednesday, as an upper level trough dips down into N. California, and this will help move the ridge axis over the the Rockies. Despite this, well above normal temps should continue for the rest of the week and into the holiday weekend, about 100F for the Owens Valley and 82 – 92F for Mono County.
For today and tomorrow: Excessive Heat Watch in effect from Tuesday morning through Wednesday evening below 4000 feet for areas of Inyo County. Also a Red Flag warning in Mono County for Today for thunderstorms and strong outflow winds.
Owens Valley:
Today: Sunny. Highs 100 – 103 / Lows 65 – 75. Winds NW 10 mph.
Wednesday: Sunny. Highs 99 – 102 / Lows 66 – 76. Winds SW 10 mph.
Town of Mammoth Lakes (7,800 – 8,200 feet):
Today: 30% chance of showers & thunderstorms. Highs 86 / Lows 53. Winds E 5 mph.
Wednesday: Sunny. Highs 80 / Lows 51. Winds SW 5 – 10 mph.
Mono County:
Today: Slight chance of showers & thunderstorms. Highs 87 – 97 / Lows 44 – 54. Winds SE 10 mph.
Wednesday: Sunny. Highs 82 – 92 / Lows 42 – 52. Winds SW 10 – 15 mph.
