FRIDAY FEB 07 2014
Short break today from unsettled weather as a shortwave ridge builds in. Later today a large fetch of tropical moisture combined with an upper low will ride over the ridge and bring a series of impulses to northern California. Big question is how far south will the moisture move. If it moves far enough south, then our district will see heavy snow in the mountains and rain in the valleys this weekend thru Monday. The tropical airmass will also raise temperatures to above normal, as well as snow levels to + 8,000 feet. By Tuesday of next week, the ridge off the coast re-amplifies for a dry and mild pattern thru the end of the week.
