Blocking ridge will stay locked in place through next Tuesday. This ridge now extends from Western Mexico all the to about 1,000 miles north of San Francisco. It is in effect keeping all the winter storms from entering this area, kicking them up through Western Canada and British Columbia. With this, temperatures will run some 10 – 20 degrees above normal for mid-January. Starting next Tuesday, we will have a few systems trying to drop through our area, but given the persistent nature of the ridge, I doubt they will have any real effect on our weather.
